Participating in service development (Adult social care)

The participation team welcomes the opportunity to provide and share with you information about consultation, participation and involvement activities currently taking place throughout the city.

We would like to encourage as many people as possible to become involved.

We work closely with council officers who commission and develop services.  Before any new strategies or services are introduced, extensive consultation is carried out which helps to shape the commissioning officers' plans.

User and carer involvement

The team works closely with the Wolverhampton Partnership, made up of senior people from Wolverhampton's key public, private, community and voluntary organisations.  The Partnership includes the major local agencies involved in delivering services such as Wolverhampton City Council, Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust, West Midlands Police, Jobcentre Plus, City of Wolverhampton College and the University of Wolverhampton

We have links with the Carer Support Team which helps support carers in Wolverhampton and also seek to involve older people via the Over 50s Forum and older peoples partnership board.

We are also members of the West Midlands Regional User/Carer Involvement Group.  Representatives from the West Midlands user/carer involvement group and participation teams meet  to discuss initiatives and share ideas on user involvement and participation.

Wolverhampton LINk

Wolverhampton Local Involvement Network (LINk) gives you the opportunity to influence local health and social care services. It has been set up to help make sure that people in Wolverhampton get the health and social care services they need, anyone can get involved.

Wolverhampton LINk wants to hear about your experiences of health and social care services and your ideas for improvements and changes. Wolverhampton LINk can help bring about changes - whether they are big or small.

Wolverhampton LINk is made up of individuals and community groups who work together to improve local health and social care services. The job of LINk is to find out about what people like and dislike about local services, and to work with the people who plan and run them to help make them better. This may involve talking directly to health and social care staff about a service that is not being offered, or suggesting ways that an existing service could be made better.

LINks also have powers to help them do their job and make sure that changes happen. For an application form to join Wolverhampton LINk, please contact the number below:
