Health and social care
All of us may need health and social care services at some point in our lives.
Health and social care is the part of the council that provides help to people who, for whatever reason, have difficulties in coping with everyday life. This used to be called social services.
We provide help to people of all ages but the service is divided into Adult Social Care and Children's and Young People's Social Care. We also work closely with health services to help to vulnerable people.
To find out more, visit our dedicated sections about:
- Adult Social Care services - we offer advice, information and services to help anyone over 18 who have mental health difficulties, learning disabilities or physical and sensory impairments and to older people. We offer the same service to carers, and provide a service to safeguard vulnerable people. We aim to help all people live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
- Children and Young People's social care services - we offer support to families, foster care, adoption services, residential care, youth justice, and family support, as well as specialist services for children with a disability
- Health services - these are provided by Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust and the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust, including medical advice, treatment and support, healthy living advice, family planning and help for people coping with substance misuse.
