Wolverhampton Adult Placement Team
The Wolverhampton Adult Placement Team recruits paid carers to provide a family home for people with a learning disability and those with mental health needs.
The family-based care is given to adults with a learning disability and mental health needs who do not want residential care, but do need support.
The scheme enables people to stay in the community and to improve their quality of life. Care is provided by ordinary individuals or families. Some carers live alone, some with a partner and some live with their children. All our carers are given training and have had police checks.
Carers paid to give help and support
Carers are paid to give the people who live with them the help and support they need. Some of that money comes from Social Services. Those living with Adult Placement carers will need to pay some of their benefits or wages towards the cost of their accommodation.
The Adult Placement Team is part of Social Services. The team is based at Oxley Moor House, off Stafford Road and consists of three people. Lisa works with carers who provide an Adult Placement to people with a learning disability, Ilona does the same for people with mental health needs and their manager is Tony.
Adult Placement offers people aged 18 and over an alternative and flexible form of accommodation and/or care or support. It enables the person being cared for to share in family activities. Those on the scheme value it for its flexibility – stays can be short or long term - and the independence it gives them.
Adult Placement Officers are in regular contact with the person being looked after and their carers and offer advice and guidance where necessary.

Placements are monitored by staff and inspected by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
