Election of Councillors
The Members of Wolverhampton City Council (Councillors) are elected to represent the people of Wolverhampton.
There are sixty Councillor seats, three to represent each of twenty wards within the City.
One Councillor seat from each ward is contested in an election every year for three years. In the fourth year there is no election, and then the cycle of elections starts again.
However for 2004, because of changes to Ward boundaries, all 60 seats across the City were contested.
Councillors lists are provided on this site by name, ward and political party.
The current political composition of the council is:
- Labour - 33
- Conservative - 20
- Liberal Democrat - 6

Decision making
The system of Committees has now been replaced for most purposes by an Executive Cabinet with Scrutiny Panels.
A few Committees still remain for certain statutory purposes.
