Political structure

The Council comprises 60 elected Councillors, representing local people in 20 wards across the City. All are represented by three Councillors.

On 4 May 2006 a local election was held with all 20 seats contested.

  • Labour - 40
  • Conservative - 17
  • Liberal Democrats - 2
