Biographical details of the Mayor and the Mayor's Consort

The Mayor's biography
Christine Mills was born and educated in Bilston. She trained as a therapeutic radiographer at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital and subsequently worked in the Radiotherapy Department. She and Stuart have two daughters both of whom are music teachers.
Christine has been a Councillor since 1987, representing Merry Hill Ward since 1991. She served on the Planning Committee for 20 years being Vice-chairman between 1992 and 1994. She has been the Conservative spokesman for Education and then Children and Young People since 1994. She has also served on the Housing Committee, Scrutiny Board, Superannuation and Corporate Parenting Committees, as well as being a member of the City Challenge Board.
Christine has been Group Secretary of the Conservative Group and has represented the City on the West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority for over 10 years where she has the responsibility for Customer Relations.
Christine has been a member of Villiers Primary School Governing Body since 1987 where she is Vice-chairman, a position she also holds for New Park Special School and Braybrook Pupil Referral Unit. She is Chairman of both Kingston and Midpoint Pupil Referral Units. Christine has also been a Governor of St. Michael’s Catholic Primary School, Merry Hill for over 12 years.
Christine is a member of the Bilston Historical Society and the Church Council of St. Mary’s Church Bilston. When Christine has any free time she enjoys reading, knitting and shopping.
The Mayor's Consort biography - Mr Stuart Mills
Stuart was born in Wolverhampton and educated at Tettenhall College before gaining an Honours Degree in Building Economics and Measurement at the University of Aston in Birmingham. He joined Henry Willcock and Company, a well-known Wolverhampton Building Company, as an Estimator, where he later became a Director. He now works for a large building company in Birmingham.
Stuart has been a life-long member of St. Mary’s Church, Bilston and was Treasurer of the Parish of Bilston for over 20 years. He was also Chairman of Wolverhampton South-East Conservative Association for many years. Stuart has supported Bilston Town Football Club and also Wolves all his life, but now prefers watching from his armchair.
