Have your say on Building Schools for the Future
Released: 3 March 2008
Wolverhampton residents of all ages are invited to have their say on the council’s strategy to transform the city’s schools with £300 million investment through the Government’s Building Schools for the Future programme.
Building Schools for the Future is part of a massive £1 billion plan to regenerate the city and improve the lives of residents.
It will mean significant new investment in secondary school buildings and in specialist facilities like sport, science and computer technology. But it will also look at helping children to succeed through new ways of learning that are more tailored to their needs.
Cabinet Member for Schools, Councillor Christine Irvine, said: “Building Schools for the Future is one of the most significant developments in our city’s education for many decades.
“I hope residents of all ages will take full advantage of the opportunity to have their say on this exciting vision for the future”, she added.
The vision for the future is set out in the council’s Strategy for Change document which can now be viewed at www.wolverhamptonbsf.org.uk the Wolverhampton Building Schools for the Future website.
The public are invited to have their say on the vision before it is submitted to the Government.
People can phone their comments by calling free on 0800 40 80 459.
