Progress on road resurfacing - A41 The Rock and Wergs Road

Released: 3 March 2008

Progress during the first week of road resurfacing on the A41 (The Rock/Wergs Road) has been better than expected and Phase 2 of the project is now due to start this evening, Monday March 3rd, three days earlier than planned.

Phase 2 is the section from Wrottesley Road to Keepers Lane and involves the closure of the main road to through traffic while work takes place, between 8.00pm and 6.00am each night.

The diversion route for through traffic will be via Wrottesley Park Road, Jenny Walkers Lane, Bridgnorth Road and Compton Road.

Vehicular access to properties along Wergs Road will be maintained as far as possible, but there may be a short delay if access is required as work takes place immediately outside individual driveways.

Work on Wergs Road will be suspended on Tuesday night (March 4th), in view of the additional traffic likely to be generated by the Wolves’ home match at the Molineux.

The resurfacing of the A41 (The Rock/Wergs Road) between Church Road and Keepers Lane in Tettenhall, one of Wolverhampton’s busiest roads, will make it safer and reduce road noise for residents.

The road will get a new ‘quiet’ surface which will significantly lower noise from traffic by absorbing some of the sound. It will also reduce the amount of spray from vehicles in wet weather making it safer.

All properties affected by the scheme have been written to and given a provisional programme of works. Detailed information is available at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk or by calling Gwyn James on 01902 555755.

Issued by the press office.
