Pancakes for Mayoral charity fund

Released: Tuesday, 29 January 2008

Wolverhampton Mayor, Councillor Trudy Bowen, is extending a Pancake Day invitation to the Mayoral Suite to celebrate Shrove Tuesday on February 5th.

The event starts at 10.30am and the ticket price, of just £3.00 per person, includes traditional pancakes, a cup of tea or coffee and entertainment from city organist Steve Tovey. Admission is by ticket only which are available from the Mayor's Parlour.

Tickets are also still available for the 'Civic Night at the Dogs' at Monmore Green Stadium on Thursday, April 17th, at 7.00pm.

Local organisation or businesses can promote themselves by sponsoring a race for £100. This will get their company name registered onto the official race card, have a public address announcement for their race, the opportunity to present a winner’s trophy (supplied by Monmore) and a take home a mounted souvenir photograph of the presentation.

Tickets, priced at £25.00, which include admission, race card and a three-course meal, are available from the Mayor's Parlour.

All proceeds from both events are in aid of the Mayor's chosen charities which are Khandel Light, SSAFA Forces Help and the Rheumatology Out-Patient Department at New Cross Hospital.

Anyone wanting further information on either event can contact the Mayor’s Office on the third floor of the Civic Centre, on Wolverhampton 01902 554090.

Issued by the press office.
