Get in shape in 2008
Released: 17 January 2008
Wolverhampton residents are being given a helping hand to get in shape in 2008.
Two thirds of Brits make it their New Year’s resolution to get fit and now the city council has launched a series of discount cards which aim to save regular leisure centre users money.
The Fit Cards, which come in three different packages, have proved immensely successful since their launch late last year, and hundreds of people have already signed up.
The 12-month passes give holders unlimited use of health and fitness suites at Aldersley Leisure Village, Bilston Leisure Centre and Central Baths, and the swimming pools at Bilston Leisure Centre and Central Baths.
Fit Gym, which costs £180-a-year, is designed for people who only want to use the health and fitness facilities, while Fit Swim (£110) is for those who just want to swim. A joint card, Fit Combi (£260), allows people to use both the pools and the health and fitness suites.
Councillor John Reynolds, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: “These cards have been launched to encourage people in Wolverhampton to get fit and to ensure their wallet stays in shape at the same time.
“We have a great range of modern leisure facilities here in Wolverhampton, and our helpful staff will be on hand to offer support, advice and coaching to people who want to get and stay in shape.”
