Have your say about the new Wednesfield Library
Released: 14 February 2008
Staff from Wolverhampton Libraries want to hear what local people would like to see in the new library planned for Wednesfield.
Library staff, architects and others involved in the project will be holding meetings for local residents at the Jennie Lee Centre, Lichfield Road, Wednesfield, on Wednesday February 20 at 2pm and 6pm.
Assistant City Librarian, Andrew Scragg said: “This is an important new development for Wednesfield, and we want to make sure local people get involved and that the new community library meets the needs of everyone in the area.
“We want local people to come along whether they use the existing library or not. At these drop-in sessions they can see the plans and meet the architect and library staff to tell us what they think of the designs - and what they want from their local library.”
The proposed new library, funded by the Big Lottery’s Community Libraries Fund and Wolverhampton City Council, will be at the corner of Rookery Street and Well Lane. Construction is due to start in September this year, with the library opening in September 2009.
