Anyone for tennis?
Released: 17 September 2007
The Maria Sharapovas and Tim Henmans of tomorrow will be able to hone their skills at a series of tennis coaching sessions in Wolverhampton this autumn.
Youngsters are urged to head to the tennis courts at Aldersley Leisure Village for a choice of four courses.
Wolverhampton City Tennis Club is running the sessions at the Aldersley Road centre on Fridays from 21 September. Children can choose to take each for either six or 12 weeks, finishing on 2 November or 14 December.
Mini Tennis Red sessions, for seven to nine year olds, take place from 4pm to 5pm each Friday. The course is an introduction to tennis, developing skills in movement and co-ordination, which is played on badminton-size courts with short rackets and very soft balls.
Mini Tennis Orange sessions are then held from 5pm to 6pm. These sessions, for seven to 10 year olds, further develop and improve skills on a bigger court.
From 6pm to 7pm, children aged from eight to 10 years old can enjoy Mini Tennis Green which is the final stage of preparation for full tennis.
The final session of the day from 7pm to 8pm is Junior Full Tennis, for 10 to 15 year olds, which helps to improve basic and intermediate skills.
The cost of each course is £20 for six weeks or £35 for 12 weeks.
