Hidden treasures - adult learners help rewrite art history
Released: 22 October 2007
The result of an innovative collaboration between Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Wolverhampton Adult Education Service (AES) goes on show next week.
Local families were asked by the AES’s Family Learning Team to respond to the gallery’s recent Hidden Treasures exhibition, and their thoughts will be on display in a month-long exhibit going on show from Monday, 29 October.
Christine Parsons, head of Wolverhampton Adult Education Service, said: “Hidden Treasures rewrote traditionally accepted histories by highlighting the influence that non-European countries had on British design during the Victorian period.
“We are delighted to be able to showcase the work of our learners who were inspired by an exhibition of Asian artefacts at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.” The free exhibition, called Hidden Treasures: A Contemporary View on Victorian Objects, runs from Monday, 29 October, until Thursday, 29 November, at Wolverhampton Adult Education Service’s Foyer Building on St George’s Parade.
