Council encourages residents to get fit
Released: 18 October 2007
Wolverhampton City Council is launching new passes which aim to help people get fit while ensuring that their wallets also stay in good shape.
The council’s Sport and Recreation team has unveiled a series of cards which save regular leisure centre users money.
They will be available in three different packages: Fit Swim gives access to swimming pools at Bilston Leisure Centre and Central Baths; Fit Gym, which allows holders to use gym equipment at Aldersley Leisure Village, Bilston Leisure Centre and Central Baths - and Fit Combi, which enables users to access both the pool and gym equipment at Bilston and Central Baths and gym equipment at Aldersley.
Paid upfront, Fit Swim cards cost £110 a year, Fit Gym is £180 and Fit Combi costs £260. Payments can also be spread over 12 months, starting from as little as £11 per month.
Ian Bosworth, Senior Operations Manager for Wolverhampton Sport and Recreation, said: "The new cards enable our regular customers to save money - for example a swimmer who comes three times a week can save more than £100 over the year if they have a Fit Swim card, and gym users can save over £200 with a Fit Gym pass.
“In fact Fit Combi cardholders who use the gym three times a week and swim twice could save more than £800.
“We hope to attract new customers who want to regularly exercise and may want to commit to a monthly payment scheme to improve their fitness."
The Fit cards are available alongside the council’s existing Total Leisure Cards, which also offer significant discounts.
They will be available from the end of this month. For more information and to make an appointment to sign up for a card either e-mail or telephone the leisure centre of your choice:
