Oxley and Bushbury North Local Neighbourhood Partnership annual review celebrations

Released: 8 October 2007

A celebration event takes place next Tuesday, 16 October, to mark the work of Oxley and Bushbury North Local Neighbourhood Partnership (LNP) during their first year.

LNP Vice-Chair, Joan Curtis, said: “At the end of our first very successful year of the Oxley and Bushbury North Local Neighbourhood Partnership I would like to thank all those people involved in out work – all the residents, councillors and service providers who have, in working together, sown the seeds for a brighter future for all those living and working in the area”.

Set up as part of the city council’s Local Area and Neighbourhood Arrangements (LANA), the Oxley and Bushbury LNP aims to bring together representatives from the local community, voluntary sector, key public agencies and businesses to improve local services and the quality of life for local residents.

The first meeting took place last October since when much positive work has been undertaken in the local community and a three year Action Plan developed setting out how local priorities are to be addressed, what work will be done and who will be doing it.

Guests and delegates at the annual review and celebration event will hear about projects which have made the area a safer, cleaner and healthier place to live.

The event, which takes place in the main hall at Pendeford Business and Enterprise College, Marsh Lane, Fordhouses at 6.30pm next Tuesday evening, 16 October, will feature performances from local groups and displays of what has been happening in the community during the past 12 months.

Feedback will be given from task groups who have been considering issues of health, environment, children and young people, crime and community safety, employment and skills, together with a guest speaker from the i54 Regeneration Project on the Wobaston site who will be explaining the latest developments there.

Anyone wanting to find out more about or become involved in the work of the Oxley and Bushbury North Local Neighbourhood Partnership can contact the Oxley and Bushbury North Partnership Team at 2, St Anne’s Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton WV10 6SP or by email or by phone on 01902 551765 and fax on 01902 551766.

Issued on behalf of the LNP by the press office.
