Mayor's silent screen cinema classic
Released: 3 October 2007
A special screening of the classic silent comedy, The General, is one of the highlights of the Mayor’s autumn programme of charity events.
And the red carpet will be out as the Mayor, Councillor Trudy Bowen, arrives in a vintage car for what is planned to be a city version of a major film premiere full of glamour and glitz – with evening dress optional!
The screening will be accompanied live by the City Organist Steve Tovey.
It is also hoped to arrange a special guest appearance by a Black Country comedy act at the event to entertain guests on arrival at the Lighthouse prior to the screening. The Mayor hopes as many people as possible will go along to support the special silent film screening she is hosting of The General which takes place on Thursday, November 15th, at the Light House, in the Chubb Buildings on Fryer Street, Wolverhampton.
Tickets are priced at £7.50 (children £5) and are inclusive of a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink on arrival.
A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to the Mayor's chosen charities, which this year are Khandel light, SSAFA Forces Help and The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust Charities – The Rheumatology Outpatient Department.
More information about this and other charity events is available from the Mayoral Office on Wolverhampton 01902 554090/554091/554079.
