Wolverhampton waste partnership gains national award

Released: 2 October 2007

Wolverhampton’s Waste Management Partnership has won a prestigious national award for excellence in customer service, continuous improvement and innovation.

The Charter Mark Award has been given to the partnership between Wolverhampton City Council and Enterprise Plc which manages the collection and disposal of waste in the city including recycling activities.

This is the second time that the service has gained the accolade, which is granted by the Cabinet Office for high standards in customer service.

The assessor stated that: “…customer satisfaction continues to improve on past performance, there is a range of excellent, informative literature that provides clear and useful information to customers, partnership working is very beneficial to the service and consultation is wide-ranging and effective.”

Councillor Pat Byrne, Wolverhampton City Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “We’re very pleased to retain the Charter Mark.

“The award provides national recognition for the work, commitment and professionalism of everyone at the partnership in delivering services of the highest quality.

“We are always striving to meet the needs and aspirations of residents and businesses - and are dedicated to working to improve services further.”

Chief Service Development Officer, Alistair Merrick, also expressed his thanks to all staff within the service for their hard work over the past year in developing the service and maintaining excellent standards.

Issued by the press office.
