Partnership celebrates a successful first year

Released: 16 November 2007

An event to celebrate a Wolverhampton neighbourhood partnership’s first year will give people the chance to look back at its achievements and consider priorities for next year.

Ettingshall Local Neighbourhood Partnership’s first annual celebration will take place at Bilston Pentecostal Church, Wolverhampton Street, Bilston, on Tuesday 20 November.

Set up as part of the city council’s Local Area and Neighbourhood Arrangements, the partnership aims to bring together representatives from the local community, voluntary sector, key public agencies and businesses to improve local services and the quality of life for residents.

Lisa Corbett, Neighbourhood Manager, said: “A lot of hard work has been undertaken to bring about improvements throughout the Ettingshall ward in the last year or so.

“The partnership has played an important role by helping to improve links between residents and local agencies.

“Representatives from the city council and West Midlands Police in particular, have worked together with voluntary and community organisations to address issues and concerns raised by local residents - such as anti social behaviour, fly-tipping and helping those seeking employment.

“We are keen to share these successes with all members of the community - and look forward to building on these in 2008.”

The celebration event starts at 6.30pm and includes a free supper.

The review of the first successful year of the partnership’s activities includes a short video presentation, which was filmed in the local area, and the opportunity for residents to highlight what matters they would like the partnership to look at in 2008.

The chairperson for the next 12 months will also be elected at the meeting.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event, but places need to be booked in advance for catering purposes.

For further information about the partnership or the celebration event please contact Lisa Corbett on 01902 550741.
