Released: 9 November 2007

Wolverhampton residents can get advice and guidance on ‘Distance Selling’, ‘On Line Car Sales’ and ‘Door Step Crime’ at various city locations during National Consumer Week next week, 12 to 16 November.

Wolverhampton City Council’s Trading Standards Service will be hitting the road and visiting venues across the city including Wolverhampton, and Bilston Markets and the Wednesfield area to give advice.

Consumers can also call the Consumer Direct West Midlands advice line on 08454 04 05 06 for self help consumer advice.

Cabinet Member for Environment Councillor Pat Byrne, said: “I am very pleased that we are actively promoting National Consumer Week and raising the profile of the Trading Standards Service in helping our residents with consumer problems.

“The Trading Standards Service makes a key contribution to the city council’s priority of improving community safety and officers are particular keen to help older and vulnerable residents who may be at greater risk”, she added.

The year’s overall theme is ‘Buying from afar - Know your Rights’ with helpful advice available on subjects such as doorstep selling and buying cars online.

Officers will be available from 9am to 2pm each day at the following locations:
