City council helps care workers boost their skills base
Released: 5 November 2007
Care workers are being offered the chance to gain literacy qualifications to help them in their work.
Wolverhampton City Council’s Adult Education Service is running courses to support the NVQ in Health and Social Care.
Care workers can study for a National Literacy Certificate, a qualification which is recognised by employers across the country.
The classes will help them brush up on literacy skills, update their qualifications, improve career development and increase their confidence and self-esteem.
The courses aimed at care workers take place at the Bingley Centre in Penn Fields. Wolverhampton Adult Education Service also offers courses at the City Learning Quarter open to anyone who wants to improve either their literacy or numeracy skills.
To find out more about improving these skills, call Anne Squire on 01902 558131.
