City playwrights celebrate Pop Art Gallery opening
Released: 27 March 2007
Local playwrights will be taking part in the festivities this Saturday 31 March at the grand opening of the new Pop Art wing at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
Members of the Bantock House-based New City Playwrights’ group will be performing short sketches in response to specific art works on the hour between 11am and 3pm.
“We are really excited to be working in this context,” said group member Jefny Ashcroft. “It will be one of the leading collections of Pop Art outside London and to have this opportunity is just great”, she added.
“We’re delighted that local writers are being involved in what should be a proud day for the city,” said Simon Fletcher, literature development worker, who helped to establish the playwrights’ group five years ago.
