Boeing director visits city

Wolverhampton City Council chief executive Richard Carr and university pro-vice chancellor Gerald Bennett will welcome Mary Goetz – Boeing’s director of industrial participation, UK programs – during her visit to the city on Tuesday, 20 March 2007.
The purpose of the visit is to inform Ms Goetz of the investment potential in Wolverhampton and the surrounding area.
Chief Executive, Richard Carr, said: “This visit will showcase Wolverhampton as a serious place for international business investors.
“Wolverhampton has always had strong links with the aerospace industry and we have a unique chance to demonstrate the opportunities available here to a senior representative of a global leader in the field.
“I’m delighted that staff from our economic development team showed great initiative and confidence in inviting Ms Goetz to Wolverhampton,” he added.
After visiting the i54 development site – the 96 hectare industrial site on Wobaston Road, which will eventually provide around 6000 jobs - and RAF Cosford, the University of Wolverhampton will host an informal lunch for Ms Goetz in the Millennium building where there will be an opportunity for networking and presentations
She will also meet representatives from Advantage West Midlands, the Wolverhampton-Telford Technology Corridor, the Chamber of Commerce and the Midlands Aerospace Alliance.
There will be presentations by Wolverhampton City Council on current and proposed future developments in the city and by the University focussing on the skills base and services to business.
The private sector will be well represented by the key local Aerospace companies – Smiths Aerospace, Goodrich Actuation Systems, HS Marston and Timken Aerospace – all of which are Wolverhampton Business Champions’ companies.
