Advanced learning centre celebration event

Released: 16 March 2007

Wolverhampton’s brightest youngsters celebrated the end of their extra curricular studies with a celebration event at the Lighthouse Cinema.

The Advanced Learning Centre Maintaining Momentum programme is an out of school education project, initiated and co-ordinated by Wolverhampton City Council, designed to help gifted and talented pupils with their learning at the time of transition from Primary to Secondary education.

Pupils from schools across the city have spent a year attending Saturday morning classes in mathematics and science at Highfields Environmental Centre.

The celebration event at the Lighthouse marked the end of their 12 months extra classes and their achievements during the programme.

Issued by the press office.
