Essential maintenance work at Central reference library
Released: 7 March 2007
Services in the reference library on the first floor of Wolverhampton’s Central Library will be temporarily disrupted during the next four weeks while essential electrical work takes place.
From Monday 12 March electricians will move in to the Central Library building in Snow Hill to continue work to upgrade the existing lighting system.
From this date, the reference library will be completely closed to the public, although a limited telephone service will operate and daily newspapers will be relocated to the adult lending library downstairs.
City librarian, Karen Lees, explained: “It is unfortunate that we have to temporarily close the reference library but we shall try to minimise the disruption to the public wherever possible and feel sure that everyone will appreciate the benefits when the library re-opens.”
It is expected that the Reference Library will re-open at 9am on Saturday 14 April.
The work to the reference library follows on from the installation of new lighting in the main adult lending library in November last year.
Further information regarding the progress of the work can be found on www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries The reference library can be contacted on 01902 552026.
