Released: 25 June 2007

Wolverhampton Shopmobility is offering an extended service to coincide with this year's City Show at West Park.

The service will be open for the show weekend to ensure visitors can hire mobility scooters as well as powered and manual wheelchairs.

Shopmobility is operated by Wolverhampton City Council from the Wulfrun Shopping Centre, on Cleveland Street, and will be open from 9am until 6.30pm on Saturday 7 July and 10.30am until 6.30pm on Sunday 8 July.

New customers will be required to register with the service and this process takes about an hour. Therefore, new customers are advised to register in advance. For registration purposes two forms of identification and a passport size photograph are required.

For all powered equipment, the charge is 50p for the first hour and 25p for each additional hour after. Manual wheelchairs are charged at 50p per loan.

In addition, a holiday loan service is available. Manual wheelchairs can be loaned for a period of up to three weeks. The charge for this service is £1 per day.

The service can provide equipment which has the capacity to carry up to 35 stone in weight.

Shopmobility's normal opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm (closed on Bank Holidays and Sundays). Dedicated car parking is available for customers.
