Have your say to help shape Wolverhampton

Released: 18 June 2007

Information and advice about services in Wolverhampton, along with the chance for residents to shape the future of the city, will all be on offer at the One City Marquee at this year’s City Show.

The marquee will host a range of activities for all the family and will be an opportunity for the public to meet service providers from across the city face to face.

The popular annual event will take place on the weekend of July 7 and 8 and once again it is hoped thousands of people will visit the marquee whilst they are at the show and have their say in the way the city is developing.

A signer for the deaf community will be on hand on Sunday July 8, between 11.30am and 2pm and there will be interpreters in all the major community languages throughout the weekend.  Free activities will be available such as face painting, nail art, badge making and personal safety packs and post-coding mobile phones

The event also provides the opportunity to report back to the public about the progress being made in terms of improving the city and its services.

And, vitally, organisers will be asking the public if they think things are getting better in Wolverhampton.

The public’s responses will be used to influence the priorities of service providers and feedback will be published in future issues of One City News.

As well as being asked to comment on the day, questions will also be published with the Community Plan pull-out within the One City News newspaper June 2007 issue, which is delivered to households within the city – so readers can fill it in, cut it out and hand it in at the marquee on the day.

Anyone who takes part in this survey will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of shopping vouchers.

This year for the first time, organisers will be asking people their views from their neighbourhoods – with each Local Neighbourhood Partnership talking to residents in their area.

All this will not be possible without your help. We need your input and opinions so please come along to the marquee and see what changes are being made to the city for the better.

  2. It was the subject of extensive consultation and public engagement – more than 8,000 people contributed to the final plan.
  3. The Wolverhampton Partnership is the local name for Wolverhampton’s Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).  The Wolverhampton Partnership was formed as an LSP in 2002.
  4. Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) have been set up throughout England to improve local quality of life and ensure that public services work better.  Local services are increasingly being delivered in partnership – with public sector agencies, businesses, and the voluntary and community sectors working together.  LSPs are the vehicle for this way of working.

  6. The partnership is made up of representatives from key public, private, community and voluntary organisations.
