‘Badger browsing’ at Smestow Valley
Released: 8 June 2007
Local residents are invited to join the ranger at Smestow Valley Local Nature Reserve next week on Thursday 14 June, for a ‘badger browsing’ guided walk.
Led by badger expert Mike Weaver from the Worcestershire Badger Group, the walk will be a leisurely stroll around the reserve during which participants will look out for signs of badgers and their habitual routes across the reserve.
During the walk, which starts at 1pm and finishes around 4pm, Mike will describe the fascinating life history of this shy and reclusive mammal.
The ranger will also be on hand to point out anything else of interest, so it is an ideal opportunity for people to learn about the wildlife that lives within Smestow Valley.
Families with children over the age of eight are welcome and refreshments will be available at the end of the walk.
Anyone wanting to book a place or find out more about the ‘badger browsing’ walk or other events and activities at Smestow Valley Nature Reserve, can contact the ranger on Wolverhampton 01902 552351. More information about the nature reserve can be found on the www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/smestow website.
