Royal Estate recycling initiative

Released: 3 July 2007

Residents in Bradley are being urged to get involved in a Neighbourhood Recycling Initiative this weekend

Volunteers are invited to play their part in the community event at The Royal Estate on Saturday 7 July, by helping with the removal of recyclable items.

The initiative is organised by Bilston East Neighbourhood Partnership, Lower Bradley Tenants and Residents Association and Wolverhampton City Council’s Waste and Environmental Services department, in partnership with Enterprise.

People are asked to meet at the shops at Princess Square at 8am. Residents are also asked to put all their separated recycling outside their homes before 8.30am on the same day for the volunteers to collect.

In addition residents are asked to identify anybody that needs help putting their recyclable rubbish out.

The main streets being targeted in Bradley for this Neighbourhood Recycling Initiative are: Britannia Road; Elizabeth Avenue; Raleigh Road; Edinburgh Road; Bilboe Road; Princess Anne Road and Prince Charles Road.

Leaflets are being sent to residents on the Royal Estate to inform them about the day.

Councillor Pat Byrne, Wolverhampton City Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, will be pitching in with local residents and Bilston East Neighbourhood Partnership to help make the day a success.

She said: “This provides a great opportunity for people to work together to improve their environment and is the second of several neighbourhood partnership recycling events throughout Wolverhampton this year.”

George Langford, Treasurer of Lower Bradley Tenants and Residents Association, said: “I am so pleased to see the Neighbourhood Recycling Initiative come to our estate; I would like to thank the Bilston East Neighbourhood Partnership for making the Royal Estate a priority in this new initiative.

“I hope many members of the community join in on Saturday.”

Neighbourhood Recycling Initiatives, such as this event, are part of schemes which have replaced Rubbish Action Zones.
