Smokefree Wolverhampton

Smokefree trailer to stop at City Show

Released: 3 July 2007

Hundreds of visitors to the Wolverhampton City Show will have the chance to talk to council Environmental Services staff about the recently introduced smokefree legislation.

An information trailer will be at the event at West Park in Wolverhampton on Saturday 7 July and Sunday 8 July to reinforce the message of the new smokefree legislation and answer any questions that the public may have, if they are still unsure about any aspects of the new law.

It will be the latest stop for the information trailer, which has visited a number of Black Country venues over the last two months in the run-up to the introduction of the new legislation.

From 1 July it became illegal to smoke in most indoor places other than private homes. This includes restaurants; bars; cafes; hotels; theatres; bingo halls; sports centres; shopping centres; taxis; public transport; schools and hospitals.

Nearly every workplace is also affected and the legislation covers any vehicle capable of being used as a place of work by more than one person.

For further information on the new smokefree law and how it affects Wolverhampton see Smokefree Wolverhampton or call 01902 551155.

Additional information is also available on the Smokefree England information line on 0800 169 1697 or by going to Smokefree England

Issued by the press office.
