Heath Town estate management board statement

Released: 2 July 2007

Heath Town Estate Management Board has asked the Council for support to ensure the ongoing operational effectiveness of their Organisation.  The Board has four remaining members.

The request for support was also prompted by the departure at the end of last week (Friday, June 29th) of the Interim Chief Executive who is leaving to take up a new post.

Senior officers from the City Council have today (Monday, July 2nd) met with remaining Board Members to agree support arrangements.  This will initially, for the next three months involve staff from Wolverhampton Homes providing assistance to staff working at Heath Town EMB and the City Council providing help and support for existing and any future new Board Members.

The City Council will also be writing to all tenants on the Heath Town estate within the next few days to provide them with more information about the new temporary arrangements for managing their homes.

Steve Boyes, Director of Regeneration and Environment, said: “The City Council has agreed to step in with support for Heath Town EMB as it shares the key concern of the remaining Board Members and local elected Members, which is to ensure that tenants of the Heath Town estate continue to receive an effective housing management and repair service.  We will facilitate whatever level of support is necessary to achieve continuity of service for as along as it is required.”

Issued by the press office.
