New look what's on where guide out now

Released: 5 January 2007

The new-look What’s on Where guide is out now with information on a host of entertainment events which will leave Wolverhampton people spoilt for choice in the New Year.

The Wolverhampton City Council full colour guide has been revamped to make it even easier to find out about the exciting programme of music, theatre, films, exhibitions and outdoor events lined up in the city from January through to March.

Comedy highlights featured in the guide include performances by Jimmy Carr and Russell Brand at the Civic Hall and Lenny Henry at the Grand Theatre.

Music fans wishing to start the year with a touch of class will be able to see the BBC Philharmonic perform the Romance of Rachmaninov, just one of a series of classical concerts at The Civic Hall.

The New Year will also see pop acts of the moment; Lily Allen and Melbourne four-piece Jet take to the stage as part of The Civic and Wulfrun Hall’s superb line-up.

Theatre fans are in for a treat with the annual pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with Lesley Joseph as the Wicked Queen and Don Maclean as The Nurse, as well as performances ranging from An Audience with Carol Thatcher to 42nd Street starring Paul Nicholas at the Grand Theatre. In addition to this shows at the Arena Theatre, the Midlands best small-scale theatre, will include Gilgamesh, My Favourite Summer and Mutton.

Movie-goers will be thrilled with the choice at the Light House which is screening classics such as Casablanca and every girl’s favourite, Dirty Dancing.

Details on the opening of the new £6.7 million triangular gallery extension at Wolverhampton Art Gallery on March 31, 2007, are also included in the guide alongside information on a range of exhibitions, workshops, events at libraries, National Trust properties and sporting venues.

A new feature to the guide is a section dedicated to Access Performances, highlighting a number of events that have disabled friendly aids.

The What’s on Where booklet, which provides times, dates, locations and useful telephone numbers, is available from the Civic Centre in St Peter’s Square, the Visitor Information Centre in Queen Square and libraries, community centres, restaurants, bars, hotels and a number of leisure outlets throughout the Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Shropshire areas.

Every effort has been made to provide correct information in the booklet but people are asked to contact venues before going along to check details, opening times, prices and availability.

People picking up a copy of the January to March issue also have the chance to win one of five family tickets to see Peter Pan on Ice at the Grand Theatre simply by filling out a short questionnaire and telling us what they think about the new-look guide and its contents.
