Visually impaired open day at Wolverhampton library
Released: 16 August 2007
Wolverhampton libraries are inviting their borrowers to help them improve the services on offer.
An open day is planned next week (Thursday, August 23rd) where visually impaired library users and non-users alike can offer their opinions as to what would make the library service more accessible for them.
The Visually Impaired Open Day will take place at Spring Vale library in Bevan Avenue, over 2 sessions from 10am to 12pm and from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Library staff will be on hand to explain what services are currently available such as books on CD, cassette and in large print and also to explain what other services are planned for the future.
Partner organisations, such as Dolphin software and Bierley, along with the Beacon Centre for the Blind, will also be at the Open Day to discuss the needs and preferences of those attending.
Andrew Scragg, Assistant City Librarian, explained: ‘It is important that the library service meets the needs of all members of the community and to have that community involved in the decision making process is obviously ideal.’
‘We hope that the sessions are well attended so that many different viewpoints can be considered in helping us shape the future of service provision for the visually impaired’, he added.
More details about the event can be found by visiting the www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries website link.
