Travelwise celebrity lookalikes appeal
Released: 13 August 2007
Celebrity lookalikes in Wolverhampton are being urged to enter a competition to be the face of a new advertising campaign
The Travelwise campaign, which aims to encourage people to use public transport, walk and cycle more often, will feature the ‘famous’ faces of people from across the West Midlands.
The adverts will appear on the backs of local buses and on posters in the region asking car users to “take another look” at alternative methods of transport.
The search is now on for any familiar faces, including potential Posh Spices and Lewis Hamiltons, to star in the adverts.
Joanne Rainbow from Travelwise West Midlands said: “The competition will be a lot of fun and the winners will become local stars in their own right as they will appear on a number of buses in the area.
“The Travelwise campaign aims to the highlight the environmental, financial and health benefits of leaving our cars at home.
“Lots of people want to reduce their carbon footprint and using public transport, cycling or walking - even just for one day a week - could make a big impact.
“It may be not be a compliment to be told you look like the back-end of a bus but I hope plenty of people will take up the chance to appear there!”, she added.
Four winners will be chosen to appear in the adverts, and an advert on Heart FM is currently urging lookalikes to come forward.
Entries to the competition, which closes on Wednesday August 22nd, can be emailed to facefactor@coventry.gov.uk with details of who the sender thinks they look like.
The winners need to be available on Saturday, September 1st and Saturday, September 8th for photo shoots - full terms and conditions can be found here.
