Local talent to be showcased at Krash birthday event
Released: 8 August 2007
Wolverhampton bands could be spotted by record label executives at an event to celebrate the first birthday of a magazine produced by young people with the help of Wolverhampton City Council.
The free live event to mark krash magazine’s first birthday milestone will showcase 12 local teenage bands at The Planet on Friday 10 August.
Representatives from a number of independent record labels will be talent spotting at the gig including one from New York.
Metal, rock, punk and indie bands will all be performing during the celebration of krash magazine’s first successful year. The magazine is supported by Wolverhampton City Council with every article, story, poem or interview either written by or based on an interview with a teenager from the city.
City council youth workers, some of the teenagers who write for krash and some who are involved with the Supporting Unsigned Bands youth project have come together to organise the event which also includes an X Factor style competition. The winning band will enjoy a free recording session at the James Brede Studios.
Krash's own talented volunteer band photographer Katie Lincoln will be on hand and each band performing will receive professionally produced gig photos as a thank-you for taking part.
Spaces are still available for metal bands from Wolverhampton to play the 3pm to 4.30pm slot. Any interested bands should email info@krash.org.uk.
The event is open to anyone aged from 13 to 21 years old and takes place at The Planet, Westbury Street, from 3pm to 9pm. It is strictly no alcohol. Krash is available free and is published about every two months.
Copies are available from youth clubs, voluntary youth organisations and some city centre shops, as well as a download from the website.
Issued by the press office.
