Directory of services for mental health needs
Released: 17 April 2007
A comprehensive directory of services for people with mental health needs in Wolverhampton has been produced.
The 74-page booklet shows the range of help that is available both locally and nationally for those suffering mental ill health.
The directory has been jointly produced by Wolverhampton City Council, Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust and the city’s mental health action group, Hear Our Voice.
Launched to coincide with National Depression Week, which runs from Monday April 16 to Sunday April 22, the directory will also be promoted at three events in the city to be held early next month.
The booklet has been produced to help support people with mental health needs and shows the range of resources and organisations in Wolverhampton as well as some regional and national organisations.
Copies of the directory will be distributed to mental health service users, their family carers, support groups and staff in the coming weeks. They will also be made available in doctors’ surgeries, libraries and health centres.
Service users and carers who would like a copy of the directory are invited to attend the launch events. Refreshments will be provided.
Staff from the Mental Health Empowerment Team (Wolverhampton Voluntary Sector Council) and the city council will be at the events to hand out copies.
The three events will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday May 2, from 11am to 1pm, at The Croft Mental Health Resource Centre, off Bilston Road, Bilston.
- Thursday May 10, from 10.30am to 12 noon, at Corner House Mental Health Resource Centre, at the corner of Craddock Street and Dunstall Road.
- Friday May 11, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, at Steps to Health, Showell Circus, Low Hill.
