Reference library to re-open early
Released: 3 April 2007
Wolverhampton Central Library’s reference section will re-open earlier than expected this week as essential maintenance work has been completed ahead of schedule.
The Reference Library on the first floor of the city centre library at Snow Hill has been closed since Monday March 12 to allow electricians to upgrade the existing lighting system.
The department, which has also received a spring clean and new coat of paint, was expected to re-open on Saturday April 14 but the doors will now be open from tomorrow, Wednesday April 4.
City librarian, Karen Lees, said: “It was unfortunate that we had to temporarily close the Reference Library but staff have worked hard to try to minimise the disruption to the public wherever possible and I feel sure that everyone will appreciate the benefits when the library re-opens.”
Councillor John Reynolds, Wolverhampton City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “The work to the Reference Library follows on from the installation of new lighting in the main adult lending library in November last year.
“Combined with the new paintwork, the department looks much brighter and fresher. I am very pleased that we’ve been able to re-open ten days ahead of schedule.”
