Childminders celebrate their achievements
Released: 3 April 2007
Twenty childminders have been recognised for their registration and training achievements at a Childminder Celebration Evening in Wolverhampton.
The event was organised by the city council’s Early Years and Childcare Service to recognise people from the local area who have successfully completed the rigorous recruitment process and become Ofsted registered childminders. It was held at The Lindens, Tettenhall Road, on Tuesday, March 27.
To become registered, each childminder had to complete level one of the Diploma in Homebase Childcare Course. Many of the childminders had also completed the Child Protection and First Aid Working with Children training.
Sharman Shepherd, Support Childminder Co-ordinator said: “We are delighted to welcome these childminders into the professional role of childcare and celebrate their achievements. Childminding is a vital service offering affordable and flexible childcare to families in the Wolverhampton area.”
The presenter of the achievement certificates, Sandra Willis, who celebrated her retirement on Saturday March 31, was acknowledged for 29 years of childminding services.
