Deadline approaches to return Housing Survey

Released: 2 April 2007

Wolverhampton City Council is reminding people that they have until next Wednesday, 11 April to return an important questionnaire about the future of  housing in the city. More than 12,000 people have been sent a copy of the Housing Needs Survey.

The document asks people a range of questions about their particular housing needs and future housing plans. The findings of the survey will be used to inform the council’s housing and planning strategies. It will help to ensure that homes of the right type, size and tenure are built in the city in the right locations and at the right prices.

The information will also help local housing providers to put together strong bids for government funding for new housing in the city.

Councillor Peter Bilson, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said: “We are pleased with the response so far. However, we do need more surveys to be returned, so we would encourage anyone who has received a form but not yet completed it to do this as soon as possible.  The closing date is Wednesday April 11. Your views will really make a difference as the information will provide us with an accurate picture of what housing the public wants in Wolverhampton.”

The Housing Needs Study is being carried out by a specialist independent consultant, David Couttie Associates. All replies are anonymous and cannot be traced back to individuals or addresses.

Residents who are unsure how to answer any of the questions can ring the phone number given on the front page of the survey form for help.

Issued by the press office.
