What is the Forward Plan?

The Forward Plan describes the following particulars:

• The matter in respect of which a decision is to be made.
• The name of any individual or body that will make the decision.
• The date on which or the period within which the decision will be taken.
• The identity of the principal groups whom the decision maker proposes to consult before taking the decision.
• The means to which consultation is proposed to be undertaken.
• The steps any person might take who wishes to make representations to the Executive or decision maker about a matter and the date by which these steps must be taken.
• A list of documents submitted to the decision maker for consideration in relation to the matter

The purpose of the Forward Plan is to help improve accountability and transparancy of decision making in the council.
