The former role of Cabinet Teams

Prior to June 2004 each Cabinet team  dealt with a group of services and themes and is responsible for making decisions on behalf of the Council for these services.

The Council has streamlined the way it operates so that you can see more clearly how decisions have been made, who has made them and how you can influence decisions.

Separate roles for Councillors

The roles of Councillors have been separated into those making decisions (The Executive) through the Cabinet Teams and others who can examine and question those decisions (Scrutiny), through the Scrutiny Board and Panels.

The Councillors who hold the Portfolio (responsibility) for the relevant services serve on the respective Cabinet teams to which they present reports.
