Anchor Lane - Household waste recycling centre

Anchor Lane is one of the two Household Waste Recycling Centres in Wolverhampton where you can take items to be recycled and disposed of that you can't at the kerbside.

What can be recycled?

The following materials and items can be recycled at Anchor Lane:

  • Batteries
  • Books
  • Car batteries
  • Cartons
  • Electrical
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Foil
  • Food and drink cans
  • Garden waste
  • Gas bottles
  • Hardcore and rubble
  • Large appliances
  • Mixed glass
  • Mixed paper and card
  • Plasterboard
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic bottles
  • Scrap metal
  • Shoes
  • Mixed textiles and clothes
  • Tyres
  • Used engine oil
  • Wood and timber

Opening times

Summer - April to  September

  • Mondays - 10am to 8pm
  • Tuesdays - 10am to 8pm 
  • Wednesdays - 10am to 8pm 
  • Thursdays - 10am to 8pm
  • Fridays - 10am to 8pm
  • Saturdays - 8am to 4.30pm
  • Sundays - 8am to 4.30pm.

Winter - October to March

  • Mondays - 10am to 6pm
  • Tuesdays - Closed
  • Wednesdays - Closed
  • Thursdays - 10am to 6pm
  • Fridays - 10am to 6pm
  • Saturdays - 8am to 4.30pm
  • Sundays - 8am to 4.30pm.

Accepting new materials for recycling

We are now accepting hard plastics and used cooking oil for recycling at Anchor Lane.

Hard plastic includes:

  • plastic children's toys
  • plastic garden furniture
  • plastic drainpipes etc.

Used cooking oil includes:

  • used vegetable oil
  • used sunflower oil
  • used olive oil etc.

Vehicle access permits

There are some vehicles that require a permit to dispose of items at the centre.

The scheme applies to anyone who uses:

  • a van
  • a car with a trailer
  • pick-ups trucks
  • commercial type vehicles.

The scheme does not apply to vehicles used for trade or commercial purposes.

Once registered you will receive 12 permits for the year for one vehicle.

Vehicles are only permitted to use the site from 10.30am to 4pm each day excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

To apply for a permit please complete our online form.

Please note it can take up to 10 working days for the permits to be issued.
