Street scene

In order to continue improving street scene services, we monitor and track our levels of performance  and listen to your views.

This information helps us to check whether our services are:

  • working effectively
  • meeting our service standards
  • improving the environment of Wolverhampton.

Our standards

We aim to:

  • Resolve street cleaning enquiries within 2 working days
  • Resolve grounds maintenance enquiries within 5 working days
  • Resolve autumn leaf fall enquiries within 5 working days
  • Resolve gully enquiries within 5 working days
  • Resolve new and replacement litter bin enquiries within 3 weeks.

Breakdown of reports

Over 5,000 people contacted us between 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008 to report street care and cleaning issues.

The following lists the number of additional reports responded to and resolved over and above our daily programme of work:

  • 1,202 Litter
  • 1,231 Fly tipping
  • 887 Graffiti   
  • 400 Blocked gullies 
  • 412 Out of hours emergency call outs
  • 215 Dog mess
  • 176 Dead animals
  • 169 New and replacement litter bins
  • 167 Grass cutting
  • 164 Hedge Cutting
  • 142 Spillages and debris from road accidents
  • 139 Autumn leaf fall
  • 76 Weed control
  • 58 Flower beds
  • 51 Syringes (over 1,100 individual syringes)

Call analysis

Many of you contacted us by telephone and email. All enquiries and service requests were recorded during 2007/08.

Callers expressing dissatisfaction with Street Scene Services were recorded as complaints. Callers expressing satisfaction were recorded as compliments.

This gives us a true indication of customer satisfaction as many dissatisfied customers do not make a complaint through the council's corporate complaint procedure.

To help us make Wolverhampton a cleaner place, please contact us to report street care and cleaning issues.
