Gum busting programme

Shopping centres have recently had their paving stones deep cleansed to remove chewing gum, stains and general grime.

The work in Wolverhampton, Bilston, Wednesfield and Tettenhall was completed in March 2008.

The operation to remove gum which involves specialist equipment was carried out between 6pm and 6am to minimise the disruption to shops businesses and members of the public.

This year it has cost £36,000 to remove gum from our shopping areas and install smart bins in the city centre.

The areas have benefited from a much needed spring clean. Please do you best to keep it that way!
