Collection of bulky white goods

The Council provides a collection service of white goods such as:

  • cookers
  • washing machines
  • tumble dryers
  • fridges and freezers
  • kitchen appliances.

A basic charge of £17.00 for each item is made for this service. Once payment has been received, you will be contacted to arrange a collection day.

Price increases for collections

From 1 April 2008 we are increasing our collection price to £17.50 per item.

Exemptions from payment

If you are in receipt of full Housing Council Tax rebates and allowances, you may be eligible for exemption from the above charges.

Organising a collection

Firstly, you will need to contact us to arrange a collection.

Before a collection can be made you must fill out a collection form and make the correct payment to the Council

Alternatively, the form can be obtained:

  • by contacting City Direct
  • from the Civic Centre
  • from your local housing officeices 

Complete the form, clearly stating the items for collection and return with the correct payment to:

Opening times

The Payments In Cashier desks are open:

  • Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4.45pm
  • Friday, 8.30am to 4.15pm

Phone payments

Payments can also be taken over the phone for credit/debit cards. Call Banking and Cashiering Services on Phone: (01902) 551119 with your card number and details of the items for collection.

Once payment has been received in full by the council, arrangements will be made for the collection of your items.

Making items available for collection

When you have been advised or have agreed a collection date with the Council, ensure that only the items requested for collection are available outside. Items left for collection need to be on the front of your property and easy to access.
