Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
Wolverhampton City Council have carried out a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA), as part of the work which must be undertaken in preparing our Local Development Framework.
SHLAA Report
The SHLAA provides the main mechanism for identifying potential housing sites across the city and assessing their suitability for housing, and how developable and deliverable they are.
The SHLAA forms a key component of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework, including the Black Country Core Strategy, and will be used to inform the allocation of sites in the council’s Local Development Documents. The SHLAA will be updated annually.
The Final Report, published February 2010, is available to download below.

Previous Consultation
The draft methodology for the SHLAA was published for consultation in Summer 2009. A 'call for sites' exercise was carried out at the same time. These have helped inform the SHLAA.
A draft SHLAA report was published for consultation in November 2009. Some minor amendments were made to the report in the light of the consultation responses and to clarify the availability of an immediate 5 year housing supply.
A stakeholder panel, made up of house-builders, developers, land-owners and delivery organisations, has also made a contribution to the SHLAA in Wolverhampton.
