Sustainability Charter
Introduction
This Charter consists of a series of key principles of sustainability to which all partners subscribe.
It forms both a framework and a public commitment to the long term sustainable development of the City.
Different sectors and organisations will, by their very nature, require different responses to the challenges of sustainable development. The principles set out in this Charter are not intended to duplicate but to provide a basis for, and reinforce, the work of the partner organisations in developing and implementing their own sustainability policies.
Vision for a sustainable Wolverhampton
Foremost in this is a Vision for a sustainable Wolverhampton:
“A City where social well-being is supported by a vibrant and diverse economy and sustained by a safe and healthy environment.”
The Partnership recognises that local economic, social and environmental activity may have negative impacts regionally, nationally or internationally. The Partnership, through the adoption of this Charter, undertakes to eliminate, reduce or mitigate these wider impacts wherever possible.
Furthermore, the Partnership will promote the adoption of these principles by contractors or suppliers acting on behalf of or supplying partners or the Partnership, encouraging and, where appropriate, requiring improvements in their practices to make them consistent with those of the Partnership.
