Buildings at risk
English Heritage publishes an annual Register of Buildings at Risk that brings together information on all grade I and II* listed buildings and scheduled ancient monuments known to be ‘at risk’ through neglect and decay. There are three buildings in Wolverhampton on the Register for 2005.
Inclusion on the Register implies no criticism of owners as many are actively seeking ways to repair and restore their property. What the Register does do is help English Heritage and other agencies target the resources necessary to bring these properties back into beneficial use.

The City of Wolverhampton Regenerating Buildings Preservation Trust
The CWRBPT was established in 2002 to help secure the future of buildings of architectural or historic interest at risk in Wolverhampton and to promote their appreciation and enjoyment by the public.
One of the first tasks of the Trust was to undertake a survey of buildings at risk in the city. Initially all grade II listed buildings have been assessed. Buildings of architectural or historic interest in conservation areas and locally listed buildings will also be surveyed. Where buildings are assessed as being at risk the Trust will offer help and advice to owners on how they may secure the future of their property.
As a last resort buildings preservation trusts can also acquire and renovate buildings at risk.
