Park consultation

Historic parks and gardens

English Heritage is responsible for compiling the national Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. There are two landscapes in Wolverhampton included on the Register. They are:

  • West Park (grade II);
  • Wightwick Manor gardens (grade II).

Inclusion on the Register does not entail any extra statutory controls but if a planning application is submitted that would affect a registered park or garden the Council must take the historic interest of the site into account when making a decision.

For more general information about registered parks and gardens, including the criteria for selection and how to request registration, go to the English Heritage web site.

For details of the opening times for Wolverhampton's two registerd historic parks and gardens use the following links:

The Council also compiles its own list of locally important parks and gardens. See the Local List pages for more information about these sites.
