House flies
Wolverhampton City Council provides an advisory service for the treatment of house flies in domestic premises.
However the council does not offer a service for removing house flies at domestic premises.
Information about house flies
House flies (musca domestica and fannia canicularis) are common throughout the world and most people will find flies in their premises at some point regardless of any action taken to prevent this.
House flies breed in rotting vegetable matter or animal faeces. They are known to transmit disease, cause spoilage of food and can generally be a nuisance.
The larvae of flies are small white maggots and emerge from rotting matter where eggs have been laid.
The lesser house fly can be identified by the way it flies in a triangular pattern often near or beneath light fittings before coming to rest on vertical surfaces like light cords.
