Animal Welfare Charter

The Council’s original charter was produced in 1986 and has been revised twice to take account changes in legislation. This third revision develops further the commitment of the Council to animal welfare and takes account of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Please read the charter carefully. Recognise that animals have few legal rights themselves and depend upon humans to for their protection. Supporting the charter and the valuable work of the animal welfare organisations is a positive move forward that will lead to the prevention of cruelty and suffering.

The PDF below is a copy of the charter for you to download.
